Citizens of Aegis!

As we begin the fourth day of the campaign we’re continuing to track towards reaching our $400,000 Stretch Goal. We’re busy running advertisements around the internet and we’re working with a number of our partners on promotions and interviews and more coverage as we head towards the weekend!

Today’s Update features the Chasm Road.

While the city and the rest of the Realm waits patiently for the mountain elixir to be pulled from the ice, there are far worse threats to fear than frostbite. The Chill is real; it is alive, and it seeks nothing more than to drive Humanity from these lands. It takes many forms and carries many names. It haunts the roads of the mountains, seeping into all areas of our home. Those paths aren’t safe even for those who seek to avoid the shadows. But I have seen what we face, and I can find it again … for a price.

-- Alis Evinsdottir, spy

The Chasm Road Location has no special ability; it is one of those Locations that exists to serve up its Contact/Threat card.

The Spy Contact synergizes with its Threat side. Yes that’s right - sending a Spy to the Tower actually HELPS YOU HUNT!

The Threat side of the Spy gives you bonus Battle Strength when it’s in the Tower. Also, it has no Damage of its own so if it happens to attack the City, nobody will lose on the Defense track - unless the Spy’s card has been enhanced with other Threats!

Cliffs of Coldharbor Preview: Northstone Academy
over 4 years ago – Thu, Sep 26, 2019 at 10:51:36 PM

Citizens of Aegis!

As we begin the fourth day of the campaign we’re continuing to track towards reaching our $400,000 Stretch Goal. Yesterday with your help we exceeded $170k!

Today’s Update features the Northstone Academy.

(Game Rules & Names subject to change)
(Game Rules & Names subject to change)

By all rights, Coldharbor shouldn’t even exist. It was only by the power of the great Wizard King of the Second Age that Humanity was able to carve life out of the ice and stone. It was his wisdom that found the elixir in the mountains, and his vision for a great city on the coast that made it possible. We have had nothing but struggle since the war, and the Chill has only grown without his power to defend us. But there are whispers that such power can be ours again. And we would do well to listen.

-- Altani Xuefang, chief instructor, Northstone Academy

The Coldharbor Academy is an active place! The power allowing you to move Agents to it means that whenever you’ve got Agents deployed in places where they’re not helping you can always move them to the Academy.

Students of Northstone matriculate into trained agents. Their “dispatch up to 3 / recover 2 to train” option means that if you did use the Location’s ability to move an Agent there you can potentially optimize your Agent allocations to rapidly increase your trained Agent cohort.

The Corrupting Mentor gives you a choice - take a point of Reputation or train another Agent. Since trained Agents count as victory points this may seem like a non-choice but we’ve seen games where players rapidly train up ALL their Agents and this choice means that there’s never a time when Hunting the Corrupting Mentor has no benefit.

Cliffs of Coldharbor Preview: Coldharbor Barracks
over 4 years ago – Wed, Sep 25, 2019 at 09:59:17 PM

Citizens of Aegis!

As we begin the third day of the campaign we’re continuing to track towards reaching our $400,000 Stretch Goal. With your help we’ll achieve it soon!

[Most successful Kickstarter projects, which this is, generate about 3x the total amount of pledges accumulated by the end of the 2nd day, so we are tracking towards a $450k total.]

Today’s Update features the Coldharbor Barracks.

(Game rules & names subject to change)
(Game rules & names subject to change)

The Chill is an insidious foe. Humanity has faced threats in this wintery part of the Realm head on for generations, but things are different now. It’s more than wind and snow. It’s more than salt and frost. It’s more than wild beasts fighting for scarce resources. It is more than the worst nature can do; it is a corruption of what she can do. The cold doesn’t just bite; it cuts. The salt doesn’t just rust; it eats. The storms don’t just travel over mountain and valley; they rampage, as if they were somehow alive … and angry.

-- Ilona Pendry, Gilded Leaves patrician

Coldharbor Barracks allows players to turbocharge their Agent strategies, dispatching agents to the Barracks each round.

With the Winter Champion providing a Hunt when 4 Agents have gathered, players may need that fast dispatch mechanism.

Destroying the Storm Spawn rewards the victor well. Protecting against the Chill is always welcomed.

Cliffs of Coldharbor Preview: Coldharbor Citadel
over 4 years ago – Wed, Sep 25, 2019 at 12:37:06 AM

Citizens of Aegis!

Your support has been incredible! The campaign has exceeded $150k in pledges. We’re confident that our $400,000 Stretch Goal will be achieved before the end of the campaign! [Most successful Kickstarters tend to raise about 3x the pledges they receive in the first 48 hours so we're on track!]

For today’s Update we’re going to take a closer look at the Coldharbor Citadel.

(Game text & names subject to change)
(Game text & names subject to change)

There hasn’t been a king in over a century, but still that title has held on. It just goes to show that we have far greater concerns in the city than titles, and Viceroy Boisen has his work ahead of him if he is to face them. The guilds are growing in prominence here as they are across the Realm, which can be a tremendous boon for us all. But if he’s not careful, Boisen’ll wake up one day covered in strings, waiting for the music to start. It’s a good thing I’m still here to keep those puppetmasters at bay.

-- Leon Vinther, personal counsellor to the viceroy of Coldharbor

Coldharbor Citadel seeds the stacks of Advancements with Prestige. Crafting from a stack with Prestige on it transfers that Prestige to the player doing the crafting. The availability of a “free victory point” can make it very tempting to deviate from your planned strategy, or risky to ignore that Prestige if any other player decides to take it instead.

The Councellor to the Viceroy is quite powerful - and also quite expensive. Calling in favors from the Councellor is never done lightly.

Finding the Banished Envoy in the Threat Tower has benefits as well. An added point of Influence can alter the draft from the Street; and when defeated the Banished Envoy can introduce new dynamics to deployed Agents - especially in synergy with other Cliffs of Coldharbor Locations!

We Are Funded!
over 4 years ago – Tue, Sep 24, 2019 at 08:39:41 AM

Citizens of Aegis!

With your help we have crossed the first threshold and are FUNDED! This means that Edge of Darkness Cliffs of Coldharbor will be produced and you will receive your Rewards!

This Kickstarter has one Stretch Goal: When the campaign achieves $400,000 in pledges, we’ll add the Advanced Guild Packs to every Cliffs of Coldharbor Reward!

The Advanced Guild Packs add asymmetric starting positions for each Guild, as well as asymmetric powers in the form of different starting Citizens and Patrician and a Guild-specific Location board that only that Guild can use.

Our decision to design and include this content was inspired by many requests for asymmetric powers in the first Kickstarter. Depending on the 10 Locations used in any given setup, the Advanced Guild Packs can sometimes add an unavoidable element of imbalance, however, we think it also ads a healthy dose of theme, fun, and variety.

During setup, you will be given a double-sided Location board representing your Guilds’ headquarters. You choose a side of the Location and then that will be the side you use during the game. The Location board will tell you what your starting Coin, Influence, Reputation, trained Agents, and Defense level are. It will also have a static ability that only you can use during the game, and an agent activated ability.

You will replace the normal starting Guild Citizens & Patricians with the new versions included in your Guild Pack.  Two of your new starting Citizens have the ability to deploy trained or untrained Agents to your Guild Headquarters location, which is the only way to deploy Agents there (other than specific effects or killed-threat rewards that can deploy or move agents "anywhere").

Finally, your starting Patrician and your 3rd starting Citizen will also have different powers than their counterparts in the other 3 Guilds, but do not interact with your Headquarters Location.

Some clarifying rules: Opponents may never place their Agents in your Guild Headquarters, even with "deploy anywhere" type effects. If you remove untrained Agents from your Guild Headquarters for any reason they are returned to your untrained Agent supply. You may redeploy trained Agents at your Guild Headquarters to other Locations as if they were available on your player board. When you train a new Agent, it may be one of the untrained agents at your Guild Headquarters, in which case that Agent becomes trained but stays at the Headquarters Location.

We’re excited to bring this new content to Cliffs of Coldharbor and we’ll be tracking the campaign’s progress to the Stretch Goal every day until it’s achieved!

Each day during the Campaign you’ll receive an Update from us with a closeup of some of the content from the Advanced Guild Packs, and the Locations, Contacts & Threats in the Cliffs of Coldharbor.

Please help us raise awareness about this campaign and increase the size of our audience. Sharing the campaign’s link on your Facebook and Twitter social network feeds will tremendously help and we’ll really appreciate your signal boost!
